Recenty, I met a youngman 21 Years old who was very shy, we became friends and he shared with me that he had HIV. In my ignorance i did shy away from him because this was the first time i ever had someone that close to me admitt their status to me. I feel god places people in your life for a reason and as much as i tried to pull away from this youngman the more he cling to me as if i were his mother, i am older but far less wiser than this young man. Since our friendship has blossomed I studied on his illness and with a better understanding of it I am no longer afraid of the silly things that would have cost me a dear friend. Last week my friend went to AIDS status. I see the depression and hopelessness he is going through and sometimes i find myself upset because I can't make it all better for him. I listen with a non judging ear and talk him through the bad times.. I challenge each of you reading this post to reach out to someone who has this illness you never know you may be the way this person learns that nothing is to big for GOD! AND YOU MAY ALSO BE JUST WHAT THE PERSON NEEDS TO GET UP AND FIGHT TO LIVE AND ENJOY LIFE AGAIN!

Once a servicemember is mobilized, family members may find they need assistance with a particular problem or be in need of general support. Regardless of which military branch the Reserve is serving in, family members can receive services from any military installation. What is available will vary according to installation staffing, active duty population, and geographical isolation. If you do not live near an installation, many of the services can be provided via the telephone and e-mail.

Out of the blue it is like a light went on in my head and now i get it. i have been sober for almost 5 months yet i still had the thinking of a drunk, with following the process and attending meetings and group sessions i still did not feel as if i was being healed from this illness and that is because in my mind i was still playing the victim. i went from drinking to cover up pain past and present to treating people badly and felt it was justified because of the things i had gone through. the bible says when my people who are called by my name humble themselves and pray then i will heal the land. it was not until i began to humble myself did i feel i was being healed from this disease. i had to forgive all that i felt was done wrong to me. i had to stop thinking i was better then others and start treating people with respect. i had to stop justifying my actions and start asking people to forgive me. all i want is to be happy and sober and enjoy life with out holding on the horrible past. I LET IT GO!. so now with a clear mind and a new heart i am ready to recieve healing and i find not only is staying sober within my grasp. I am being healed from things i hand no idea i held on too for so many years. To wrap this up I have learned that changing the way we think can and will change a situation!

Overview

Covered employers must grant an eligible employee up to a total of 12 workweeks of unpaid leave during any 12-month period for one or more of the following reasons:

• for the birth and care of the newborn child of the employee;
• for placement with the employee of a son or daughter for adoption or foster care;
• to care for an immediate family member (spouse, child, or parent) with a serious health condition; or
• to take medical leave when the employee is unable to work because of a serious health condition.

• The Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division published a Final Rule under the Family and Medical Leave Act. The final rule became effective on January 16, 2009, and updates the FMLA regulations to implement new military family leave entitlements enacted under the National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2008. It also includes revisions in response to public comments received on the proposed rule issued in February 2008. The Federal Register Notice and related documents are available at Wage and Hour's FMLA Final Rule website. (November 17, 2008).
   
• The President signed into law H.R. 4986, the National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2008 (NDAA), Pub. L. 110-181. Among other things, section 585 of the NDAA amends the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA) to permit a "spouse, son, daughter, parent, or next of kin" to take up to 26 workweeks of leave to care for a "member of the Armed Forces, including a member of the National Guard or Reserves, who is undergoing medical treatment, recuperation, or therapy, is otherwise in outpatient status, or is otherwise on the temporary disability retired list, for a serious injury or illness." The NDAA also permits an employee to take FMLA leave for “any qualifying exigency (as the Secretary [of Labor] shall, by regulation, determine) arising out of the fact that the spouse, or a son, daughter, or parent of the employee is on active duty (or has been notified of an impending call or order to active duty) in the Armed Forces in support of a contingency operation.” By its express terms, this provision of the NDAA is not effective under the Secretary of Labor issues final regulations defining “any qualifying exigency.” Additional information and a copy of Title I of the FMLA, as amended, are available on the FMLA NDAA Web site. Many childcare centres frown upon parents who still bring their children to the facility when they are clearly sick. While this may seem irresponsible and disrespectful to the centre and the perfectly healthy children, what are you to do when there are no other options?

Many permanent or full time positions now offer family leave for situations such as this and some parents choose to utilise their own sick or holiday leave to stay at home with their child. This is particularly difficult for parents with relatively young children who often get repeatedly sick with colds and minor viruses when first attending daycare.

The other concern is what if you have a deadline that has to be met? While the good ol’ grandparents, aunties, uncles and friends make great babysitters, often these situations arise at short notice and during the working week. Gone are the days where it was deemed appropriate to bring your child into work and sit them in the corner with some crayons and paper, so what options do you have?

With the latest technology many jobs can be completed from home. This is an option that you should talk about with you boss prior to a child becoming ill. Utilising your time in lieu is another option. Many people work extra hours and combine this time to take a day off a month or fortnight. If you recognise early on in your child’s life that they are prone to getting sick, then maybe this a way that you can collect extra family leave. This option should also be spoken about with you superiors. Remember preparation is the key! Discuss your options when you first start back at work so everyone knows the plan. It is probably wise to keep other colleagues abreast of your projects and have a ‘wing man’ if you for some reason you cannot meet a deadline
